Overview
Online stores fail in search for reasons content alone cannot fix: faceted navigation generating thousands of duplicate URLs, category pages with no unique value, product pages that share manufacturer descriptions with every competitor, and feeds that disagree with the site.
We approach e-commerce SEO the way we approach builds — architecture first. Indexation rules for filters and parameters, category and product templates that carry real information, structured data that matches what the page shows, and a feed that reinforces rather than contradicts the site.
Because Algorank designs and builds e-commerce sites as well as optimising them, template-level changes are shipped by the same team that diagnosed them.
What you get
Everything below is included in a standard engagement — no line items that appear later.
Faceted navigation & index control
Rules for which filter and parameter combinations may be indexed, and which are consolidated — so crawl budget goes to pages that can rank.
Category page optimisation
Category templates with useful buying guidance, internal links and copy that answers the query — not just a grid of products.
Product page templates
Unique descriptions, specification structure, review markup and media handling applied at template level across the catalogue.
Product structured data
Product, Offer and review schema that matches the visible page, validated against current feature eligibility.
Feed & merchant alignment
Product feed hygiene so titles, prices and availability agree between the site, the feed and merchant listings.
Migration & platform moves
Redirect mapping for every product and category URL when changing platforms, with post-launch monitoring.
Transparent pricing
How much does SEO cost?
Ongoing SEO retainers run $1,000 to $5,000 per month depending on how competitive the market is and how much content and technical work each month requires. One-off audits are $1,500 to $4,000. We do not sell packages priced by a fixed number of keywords, because the work that moves rankings is rarely evenly distributed.

How we differ
A fair comparison against how this work is commonly delivered.
| Feature | Algorank | Typical alternative |
|---|---|---|
| Reporting | Rankings, enquiries and revenue impact | Traffic charts only |
| Content | Written against real query data | Word-count driven blogging |
| Technical work | Fixed in the codebase by the build team | Recommended to your developer |
| Links | Earned, relevant, disclosed | Bought networks and directories |
| Contract | Month to month after 90 days | 12-month lock-in |
A good fit if
- Your customers search before they buy, and the jobs are worth having
- You can commit to at least six months — organic gains compound slowly
- You are willing to let us change the site, not just advise on it
Probably not for you if
- You need leads this week and nothing is running — start with paid
- You want guaranteed number-one rankings, which nobody can honestly promise
- Your product has no meaningful search demand yet
If that is you, say so on the call — we will tell you straight and point you somewhere better.
From experience
The mistakes that cost the most.
Judging SEO by traffic instead of enquiries
Rankings for terms nobody buys from will grow a chart and not a business. We report on the queries that produce calls and forms, and we are content to lose vanity impressions.
Publishing volume instead of answers
Twelve thin posts a month will not outrank one page that genuinely answers the query better than anything currently ranking. Depth compounds; filler decays.
Ignoring the technical side because it is invisible
Slow templates, duplicate URLs, broken canonicals and orphaned pages cap how far content can take you. Because we build sites, these get fixed in the code rather than emailed to someone else.
Buying links
Purchased networks and low-quality directories are a liability that eventually needs cleaning up. Earned coverage is slower and does not evaporate at the next update.

Questions
Still unsure? Call +1 (613) 416-9512 and speak to the person who would run the project.
Why does my store have thousands of indexed pages that get no traffic?
+
Usually faceted navigation or parameter URLs. Filters create near-duplicate pages that dilute crawl budget and ranking signals. The fix is indexation rules and canonicals, applied at template level.
What does e-commerce SEO cost?
+
Ongoing work typically runs $2,000 to $6,000 per month depending on catalogue size and content volume. One-off audits and migration projects are quoted as fixed scope.
Can you work with our existing platform?
+
Yes. We work on Shopify, WooCommerce and custom builds. Where the platform limits a fix, we say so and propose the closest workable option.
How is e-commerce SEO different from regular SEO?
+
Scale and structure. A store has hundreds or thousands of near-identical pages, so the leverage is in templates, indexation rules and feeds — not in writing one page at a time.
Do you write product descriptions?
+
Yes, for priority products and categories, written against the queries buyers use. Catalogue-wide improvements are usually handled at template level first.
